Prerequisite: By permission of instructor
This course will have a quasi-clinical structure, in which students will assist clients in handling complex policy and legal issues in land use and local government law. Matters to be handled include: 1) preparing an amicus brief defending the constitutionality of the California Coastal Commission; 2) drafting a new municipal charter for the proposed new city in the San Fernando Valley; 3) assisting the California Environmental Protection Agency in the implementing new environmental justice legislation; and 4) consulting on litigation under the California Environmental Quality Act.
Instructor's consent required for enrollment. Students interested in this course must submit a brief statement of interest and background in issues that will arise in this class.
