Course previously numbered 418.
Co-requisite: Law 202. Graded P/U/NC. Limited to 8 students. Third year students will have the opportunity to enroll before second-year students.
This course is both a live-client and a seminar. In the clinic, students will work on murder cases (both capital and noncapital) under the supervision of lawyers in one of the offices of the L.A. County Public Defender. Students can expect to spend 16 hours per week at one of these offices, most likely downtown. In the seminar (which will meet at the law school), we examine the death penalty from a variety of perspectives, and try to relate those perspectives to the students' clinical work.
