This year marks the first annual Avvo Scholars Circle and Scholarship Program. Avvo has created this program to help inspire future generations of lawyers to innovate and impact change in the industry and our local communities. JD Law Students will have the opportunity to win a $10,000 scholarship and be admitted to the newly-created Avvo Scholars Circle, Class of 2015. This scholarship is part of Banner & Witcoff’s commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers from diverse backgrounds. Law students who meet the selection criteria and have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Recipients of the Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship will receive $5,000 payable

FIRST ANNUAL ASIAN HERITAGE LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
Gabriel Cheong with Infinity Law Group LLC has announced a new scholarship for law students of Asian heritage. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in January, 2015 and is intended to encourage more Asian Americans to consider law as a career option. The Asian Heritage Law Scholarship is open to any student who will be attending law school this spring. THE ROY A. GUSTAFSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is part of the larger VCCF Scholarship Program. This scholarship award is for students who have successfully completed their first year at an accredited law school in California and who are eligible to continue at that same California law school next year. Eligible applicants will have graduated from any public or private Ventura County high school and be currently attending any law school in the state of California. JUSTICE HOLLIS G. BEST SCHOLARSHIP
As a memorial to the late Presiding Justice Hollis G. Best, his friends have established a scholarship to encourage and support outstanding academic achievement and commitment to service by law students. The Best Scholarship is an annual award presented this year in the amount of $1,000, during the Spring 2015 semester. More than one scholar-ship may be awarded. Each candidate must be a law student who has successfully completed at least one year of law school. Strong preference will be given to current residents of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare or Tuolumne Counties.

THE JAPANESE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Japanese American Bar Association Educational Foundation, located in Los Angeles, is pleased to offer five scholarships of $2,000 each. The scholarships are open to law students with a demonstrated commitment to community service, including but not limited to a commitment to serving the Japanese American community and/or the API community. LADAS MEMORIAL AWARD
The Ladas Memorial Award was established in memory of Stephen P. Ladas, distinguished practitioner and author. Funded by Ladas & Parry LLP, this yearly award is presented in Student and Professional categories for a paper on trademark law or a matter that directly relates to or affects trademarks. The award in the student category is $2,500.
AMERICAN CONSTITUTION SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
The competition is open to all types of lawyers and law students. Practicing lawyers, policymakers, academics, and law students all are encouraged to take part. The author of the winning paper in each category (lawyer and law student) will receive a cash prize of $1,500. The winning papers will receive special recognition at the Summer 2015 ACS National Convention, on the ACS website, and potentially through other means agreed upon by the authors and ACS.

THE BEVERLY HILLS BAR FOUNDATION 6TH ANNUAL RULE OF LAW COMPETITION
The Beverly Hills Bar Foundation announces the 6th Annual Rule of Law Competition to promote appreciation and understanding of the rule of law. Entries are due no later than April 1, 2015. Prizes will be awarded at the 61st Annual Beverly Hills Bar Association Supreme Court Luncheon in June 2015. Grand Prize is $2,500.00,with two Honorable Award prizes of $500.00 each.

LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA AWARENESS/LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was established the Law Office of Renkin & Associates to provide financial support to a law student whose life has been impacted by lymphoma or leukemia and is seeking to continue his or her education through law school. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who submits the required application and essay by the deadline.
THE WALLIN & KLARICH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to all college seniors in California who will be attending an accredited California law school in the fall of 2015 and are interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice. To apply for this scholarship, the student must write a single 700-1000 word essay. The applicant who is selected to receive the scholarship will be announced no later than June 30, 2015, and a $3,000 check will be issued to his or her prospective law school which must be applied toward law school tuition, books and/or other course required materials.
