UCLA School of Law receives notices and information about various scholarships, fellowships and writing competitions sponsored by other law schools, universities, foundations, alumni associations, bar associations, etc. The Financial Aid Office will post applicable notices on this page as received.

ARTHUR E. WALLACE SCHOLARSHIP
This $2,500 scholarship incoming or continuing law students who have ties to Kern County.

Due Date: March 1, 2017                            
LAW SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST
The topics for the essay contest can be any ethical issue that arises in the context of representing plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death cases.  The first place winner will receive $2,500 and publication on Brogdon Champion's website.

CITYWIDE LAW SCHOLARSHIP
We are proud to offer a $1,500 scholarship to a current or aspiring law student.  This award will be based on an essay ranging from 500 – 1000 words on a topic of your choice.

AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION LEGAL OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund will award $5,000 of financial assistance annually to each scholarship recipient attending an ABA-accredited law school. An award made to an entering first-year student may be renewable for two additional years, resulting in financial assistance totaling $15,000 during his or her time in law school.

HERNÀNDEZ-STERN SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship fund celebrates the life and legacy of Nicolasa Hernàndez, whose passionate belief in the power of education transformed the futures of her family and community for generations. The fund awards five scholarships of $5,000 each to UCLA law students who demonstrate academic potential and a commitment to community service, civil rights and supporting underrepresented communities. Beneficiaries of the California Dream Act (AB540) are encouraged to apply.

ED MENDRZYCKI ESSAY CONTEST
This contest is open to Young Lawyers Division or Law Student Division members of the ABA, in good standing as of March 3, 2017.  The cash award is in the amount of $5,000. In addition, the winner of the contest will receive round-trip coach airfare to the American Bar Association 2017 Spring National Legal Malpractice Conference in Boston, MA, lodging for up to two nights during the conference, and will be a guest at conference meals and events

JOHN M. BORCIA LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
This $1,500 scholarship is intended to support one hard working, high achieving law school student. We urge all eligible law school students to apply, and we look forward to reading the essays and bestowing this scholarship.

This estimated $10,000 scholarship is awarded to students that are involved in civil right struggles, economic justice, international solidarity or other progressive issues.

This is a biannual scholarship of $1,000, offered to a student who plans to pursue a career in the legal field. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist a motivated student, who has demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to the community, to accomplish their dream to practice in the legal field.

DAVIS-PUTTER SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund aids people active in movements for social and economic justice. Early recipients worked for civil rights, against McCarthyism and for peace in Vietnam. Recent grantees have been active in the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of oppression; building the movement for economic justice; and creating peace through international anti-imperialist solidarity.  The maximum grant available from the Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund is $10,000 per year.

2017 DIVERSITY IN LAW SCHOLARSHIP
The national law firm Zelle LLP, is pleased to announce a call for applications for our 2017 Diversity in Law Scholarship. The scholarship awards the selected recipient a total of $30,000 to be applied towards the selected recipient's law school tuition, fees, and text books, with one half of the scholarship paid for the student's second year of law school and one half of the scholarship paid for the student's third year of law school.

THE LAW PREVIEW $10,000 1L SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
BARBRI Law Preview and the American Bar Association have partnered to award one incoming law student a $10,000 scholarship and a second runner up a $5,000 scholarship to help offset the cost of first year law school tuition.

THE 2017 HOGAN/SMOGER ACCESS TO JUSTICE ESSAY COMPETITION
This $5,000 scholarship competition is open to all current law students and all masters of law students. Co-authored submissions are eligible; if selected, the co-authors will share the prize. Each submission must be an original, unpublished academic work, but simultaneous submissions will be accepted.

2017 ASPIRING ATTORNEY SCHOLARSHIP
The Law Firm of John W. Tumelty invites all aspiring lawyers across the country to apply for a $1,000 scholarship to the educational institution of their choice. John W. This $2,500 scholarship is designed to encourage and reward dedication of an exemplary individual who is deeply involved in the community that surrounds them.  Applicants must be commencing Law School in August 2017.

KENNERLY LOUTEY SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY
Law school classes are hard enough. Financial difficulties make it even worse, and we haven’t forgotten how difficult law school was for us — and how expensive it is, too. So we set up this $2,000 scholarship to make it easier for a student every year.

WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL DEFENSE SCHOLARSHIP
While our firm specializes in white collar criminal defense, all of our attorneys have a background in indigent defense.  Therefore, for the 2017-2018 academic year, we are targeting this $1,000 scholarship for students who are working for, or plan to work for, a federal or state public defender’s office–in any unpaid capacity.

MICHIGAN AUTO LAW DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP 
Our Diversity Scholarship for $2,000 is awarded to a law student who best demonstrates a commitment to issues of diversity within their academic career.
