Senate Select Committee Hearing on Climate Change and AB 32 Implementation: California Climate Progress Update

The Senate Select Committee on Climate Change and AB 32 Implementation, chaired by Senator Fran Pavley, will be holding a hearing at UCLA on the state of climate change in California.  The hearing will feature California leaders discussing the new draft AB 32 Scoping Plan; climate impacts to southern California; and ways to invest revenue from the state's carbon cap and trade program to benefit disadvantaged communities and grow our economy.

Four members of the California State Legislature will attend the hearing:

  • Sen. Fran Pavley (Committee Chair), California State Senate, District 27 
  • Asm. Richard Bloom, California State Assembly, District 50
  • Sen. Lou Correa, California State Senate, District 34
  • Sen. Kevin de León, California State Senate, District 22

The Committee will hear testimony from:

  • Ruben Guerra, Chairman and CEO, Latin Business Association 
  • Dr. Alex Hall, Professor, UCLA Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
  • Jeff Joyner, Co-Chair, e-Mobility Working Group, Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC)
  • Cara Martinson, Associate Legislative Representative, Environmental Issues, California State Association of Counties
  • And others, including a representative from the California Air Resources Board
