UCLA’s Sustainable Technology & Policy Program (STPP) champions public health and the environment by seeking to change the way our laws deal with chemicals. STPP is a joint venture of UCLA Law and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health that brings in collaborators from throughout the University and the larger community.
STPP is anchored by a renowned faculty with a wealth of professional experience at leading environmental protection agencies, prominent health organizations and distinguished academic institutions. We work to identify and promote the use of safer alternatives to hazardous chemicals found in consumer products and used in industrial and agricultural production.
Through the Prevention Project, STPP brings together scientists, policymakers and businesses to develop innovative regulatory models. Our ambitious goal is to design new policies that will shift markets and phase out toxic chemicals to create a safer world.
