In this course, we will focus on motion writing in the criminal context. We will work through an opening brief along with an opposition brief for a pretrial criminal suppression motion. We will work with a "client," documents and other discovery, and perform legal research. We will also draft declarations to support the motions. This is an expansion on what was covered in your first year Spring Lawyering Skills curriculum and will only focus on persuasive writing. Knowledge of criminal procedural and/or evidence would be helpful but it is not required.
