Prerequisite: Law M267. Federal Indian Law, Law 428. Tribal Legal Development Clinic, or a willingness to do assigned supplementary reading.

This course examines in-depth the principles and doctrines of federal Indian law as applied to property rights in land, cultural resources, hunting and fishing rights, water rights, and economic development. It also addresses special jurisdictional regimes established by federal statutes, such as the Indian Child Welfare Act and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Students will take an in-class final examination.
