Entertainment Industry Summer Internships

Print this documentPrint

If you're interested in a summer internship in the entertainment industry (e.g., the legal department of a motion picture or television studio or of a music company), you may receive credit by writing an Individual Project paper related to your internship in the following semester. This option is available only when the entertainment industry employer restricts internships to people who will receive academic credit for it. Under this arrangement, students enroll in two units of Law 345 credit for the fall semester and, under the supervision of a faculty member, produce a substantial two-unit paper relating to or arising out of legal work performed during the summer. In order to satisfy the entertainment company's requirements, prior to beginning work, an interested student needs to secure a faculty member’s agreement to sponsor the paper so that the signed petition may be used as proof that course credit will be awarded the following fall. The topic for the paper will be determined at the end of the summer internship. During the school year, students may similarly receive Law 345 credit for an independent project relating to or arising out of legal work performed for the legal department of an entertainment industry company.
