Joseph W. Doherty (Ph.D. Political Science, UCLA) is the Director of the Empirical Research Group at the UCLA School of Law.  His research interests include the social networks of political campaigns, campaign finance disclosure, empirical analysis of bankruptcy and public opinion. He has collaborated with scholars in studies that include legal aid, pollution prevention, tax policy, gay rights, the living wage, campaign finance disclosure, criminal procedure, affirmative action in law schools and administrative law.  He was the Project Director of the Campaign Disclosure Project from 2002-2006.  Prior to coming to the law school he was a consultant with the opinion research firm Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin & Associates.
