This course will serve as an introduction to the field of immigration law. We will examine the development of immigration law in the United States, and the constitutional principles and policy considerations affecting immigration law at both the federal and state levels. We will cover the primary non-immigrant and immigrant categories, citizenship issues, the process of removal and grounds for relief. We will not cover asylum and refugee law issues since these are subject of a separate course in the Spring.
