Law 359 - Domestic Violence

This course examines the historical and current development in domestic violence from a cross-cultural perspective. It will address theoretical models in analyzing domestic violence, forms of domestic abuse such as wife battering, child sexual abuse, incest, elder abuse, family homicide and femicide, while elaborating on case studies from various countries such as the U.S.; Jordan, Palestine, Iran, Pakistan, India, U.K., etc. Issues such as the legal and social/therapeutic heritage, reforms, remedies, and future directions will be discussed extensively. The course will conclude by dealing with research issues in studying domestic abuse.

The course will meet for 10 weeks.
