UCLA School of Law's faculty is emerging as the strongest faculty in the country. We have some of the nation and world's leading experts in traditional areas like Environmental Law, Entertainment Law, Constitutional Law, and Public Interest & Policy.
We also pride ourselves in recruiting renowned experts in emerging areas, such as Animal Welfare Law, Technology Law, Islamic Law, Law & Terrorism, Sexual Orientation Law, and Native Nations Law & Policy. The school's wide array of curricular programs provide the philosophical backbone to enable our students to think critically, while still giving them the practical, focused and transactional skills they will need to succeed in today's marketplace.
Our faculty are some of the most productive in the nation. Over the past three years, our faculty have published 48 new books, 45 chapters, and over 150 journal articles.
The school's emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach to all topics of study has generated a world-class faculty that demands innovative thought. As Michael J. Connell Professor of Law Rick Abel, one of the pioneers of the law and society movement, explains, “We continue to attract extraordinarily good faculty because we are so strong in interdisciplinary studies. We are looking for unconventional scholarship. That’s what we expect.”
