Join Paula Daniels, Senior Advisor to the Mayor and Chair of the LA Food Policy Council, for a dinner discussion on November 20, 2013. Ms. Daniels will be talking about the environmental impacts of prevailing methods of livestock production. Although meat consumption is associated with increased risk of chronic disease, the rate of meat consumption in the United States is among the highest in the world. Recirculating tank aquaculture (fish farming) and aquaponics is a potentially sustainable option for urban food production of a meat source. The discussion will examine some models of production in the United States and touch on the governmental structures impacting fish cultivation.
