The University requires students to have adequate insurance to protect them in case health needs arise. The University also makes available to students a comprehensive package of on-campus services supplemented by a Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) which is designed to meet all their health care needs at an affordable rate.
When students pay fees to enroll in school, they are also paying for services at the Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center and at Student Psychological Services. Care is available for free except for some small co-payments.
When students pay their Registration fees, they are also paying for SHIP. If they already have another health plan which meets the University’s requirement they may submit a waiver each term (by the fee payment deadline) to have the insurance portion of their fees reversed.
