Washington Blade
By Rebecca Armendariz
September 8, 2008

According to the Williams Institute at UCLA, D.C. gay couples may not be registering for domestic partnerships because they're waiting for marriage legislation in the District.

The Williams Insititue will hold a panel discussion on same-sex marriage rights in California and MAssachusetts Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the UC Washington Center, 1608 Rhode Island Avenue, NW. The reception will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and the discussion will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Professor M.V. Lee Badgett, co-author of the study, and other legal experts will be on hand. The study estimates that 1,600 gay couples would marry if gay marriage was legalized.
