Edward Stein is Associate Professor of Law at Cardozo Law School. He holds degrees from Williams College (B.A. 1987), MIT (PhD. 1991) and Yale (J.D. 2000). After law school, Professor Stein clerked for Judge Dolores Solviter of the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Prior to joining the Cardozo faculty, Professor Stein taught philosophy at New York University, Mount Holyoke College, Williams College, and Yale University. He is the author of three books, most recently The Mismeasure of Desire: the Science, Theory and Ethics of Sexual Orientation (Oxford University Press, 1999). He also edited Forms of Desire: Sexual Orientation and the Social Constructionist Controversy. He has written widely on human sexuality, gender issues, epistemology, philosophy of science, cognitive science, philosophy of biology, ethics, and lesbian and gay studies. His current research includes sexual orientation and the law, family law, evidence, statutory interpretation, and the law in cyberspace.
