Judicial Education Director

The Williams Institute, a national think tank on sexual orientation law and public policy at UCLA School of Law, is the only organization in the country with a program to educate sitting judges on sexual orientation and gender identity law and policy issues. The Williams Institute Judicial Education Director is primarily responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive judicial education program, including developing all curriculum and content for, and serving as an instructor in, the Institute's judicial training courses. Candidates must have a JD and five or more years of successful experience as a lawyer, law clerk, law professor or instructor, and/or judge, as well as knowledge of sexual orientation and gender identity law and policy issues, scholarship and scholars. Demonstrated skill in writing effective, professional, clear and compelling educational materials, proposals and program announcements, as well as strong oral and public speaking skills required. Prior experience planning and executing conferences, panels, events and other training programs preferred. The Judicial Education Director must be able to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.

Development Associate

Under the general direction of the Williams Institute’s director of development, the development associate will support all development functions, including communications, data management and analysis, prospect research and event planning. Tasks will include drafting and coordinating appeal letters, donor solicitation materials, stewardship communications and acknowledgments; maintaining donor database by creating and updating donor profiles and tracking donor communications, gifts and pledge payments; assisting in all aspects of planning and staging fundraising events; and providing primary administrative support to development director and secondary support as needed to other Williams Institute faculty and staff.
