Located in the hometown of the entertainment industry, UCLA Law is uniquely positioned to offer the most comprehensive entertainment and media law education in the country. The Hollywood Reporter ranked our program number one in its listing of the best schools for entertainment law, lauding specialized course offerings, esteemed alumni working throughout the entertainment industry, and the ability of students to take classes at UCLA’s celebrated film and business schools.
At UCLA Law, students study with some of the nation’s foremost entertainment lawyers and gain a solid grounding in custom, theory and policy with courses like Art and Cultural Property Law, Music Industry Law and Motion Picture Distribution. Students may pursue select courses or elect to specialize in the program. Students also have the opportunity to contribute to the UCLA Entertainment Law Review, an international journal that tackles issues from new media law to sports law.
Our entertainment law students have access to an incredible network. Unparalleled externships include stints at the Screen Actors Guild, NBCUniversal, Fox Music, Warner Interactive Entertainment and Comedy Central. And students participate in the annual UCLA Entertainment Symposium, a flagship event for the entertainment and legal industries, which brings together industry executives, agents, managers, producers and entertainment attorneys.
UCLA’s Ziffren Center for Media, Entertainment, Technology and Sports Law places students in the heart of “the business” and positions them for successful careers as lawyers, policymakers, and leaders in the motion picture, television, music and artistic industries.
