Corporate Finance - What you need to know to be a successful lawyer

The aim of this course is to provide law school students with a strong foundation in corporate finance so that they can be better lawyers.  The course will explore the following themes: financial decision-making, corporate financial structure, securities markets, investments, and valuation. Additional topics include discounting and present values, the valuation of businesses, bonds and stocks, corporate investment evaluation, capital budgeting, raising equity capital, mergers and acquisitions, and distressed debt. No previous background in finance or Excel is necessary. The course focuses on a balance between practical application and theoretical background.
