This course is a comprehensive four credit introduction to U.S. copyright
law. The course begins with copyright's underlying policies and theoretical
framework. It then examines the requirements for copyrightability, the bundle of
rights that make up copyright, fair use and other exceptions and limitations to
copyrights, copyright ownership and transfer, moral rights, copyright duration,
possible Constitutional limitations to copyright holder rights, contributory and
vicarious liability, and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
