Course Description

LAW 525 - Patent Intensive

This seminar is designed to allow students to delve into current issues and controversies in patent law.  The seminar will be co-taught by two partners from the law firm of Irell & Manella who specialize in patent litigation: Alan Heinrich and Andrei Iancu.  Students either must already have taken patent law or must seek permission from Professors Heinrich or Iancu.  The idea of the seminar is to delve into fundamental issues in patent law with an eye toward practical and strategic considerations.  Each student will be given at least one oral advocacy assignment during the course of the semester, and must also turn in a final paper on a topic in patent law of the student's choosing.
