Voting Rights


Constitutional & Public Law, Public Interest Law

This course will cover the major topics dealing with barriers and protections for racial minority participation in the political process, including voting rights law, reapportionment, redistricting, and ballot access. It will also discuss the competing political and legal theories underpinning the right to vote, the role of the courts and the legislature in ensuring the right to vote, and the role of race in American jurisprudence.
