The New Graduate Opportunity Program funds part-time work at governmental, non-profit and public interest organizations on a temporary basis for graduating UCLA Law students. Participating graduates have a unique opportunity to further build their resume, develop new legal skills or sharpen existing legal skills while awaiting bar results. The program provides funding for 10 weeks at 20 hours per week. In total, graduates have a chance to gain 200 hours of additional legal experience following graduation and completion of the Bar exam.
In addition to building skills, graduates can use this time to network and make new contacts in a specific practice area of interest or in a related field. In certain cases, UCLA has had permanent public interest jobs extended to our graduates directly as a result of NGOP employment. The primary goal of the program is to enable our graduates to smoothly transition into permanent legal positions, either in the public or private sector, after successful completion of the NGOP.
