Register for the Symposium
This one-day symposium is hosted by the Criminal Justice Program and the
Criminal Justice Law Review at UCLA School of Law. The problems with the criminal legal system, while always present, have captured more prominent national attention over the past five years. This has led to a vast array of proposed policies, legislation, and community-led solutions. While all of these proposed solutions may rest on the premise that change is necessary, they do not always agree on what that change should look like, what the ideal outcome is, and who should be involved in the change process. This symposium will bring together the diverse perspectives of activists, legal practitioners, formerly incarcerated people, crime survivors, and systems actors to dive into these questions and discuss together the way forward for the criminal legal system.
