This webinar will introduce participants to an international process for addressing allegations of inadequate enforcement of environmental law in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. People with an interest in enforcement of environmental laws, including attorneys and other environmental advocates as well as non-expert members of the public, may be interested in learning about this process.

Article 14 of the NAAEC allows any person or nongovernmental organization in North America to file a submission with the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) asserting that a Party to the NAAEC (i.e., the government of Canada, Mexico or the United States) is failing to effectively enforce its environmental law. In some cases, the process results in the publication of a “factual record” setting out the facts about the alleged failure. In this webinar, legal officers from the CEC Secretariat in Montreal will

explain the submissions process and take questions from participants.
