Professor Schwartz Quoted by The Police News Addressing High Mortality Rate of Those Shot by TX Police

July 25, 2016-- Professor Joanna Schwartz was quoted in an article by The Police News addressing the unusually high mortality rate of those shot by Texas police officers. Texas law enforcement agencies reported that these shootings lead to death in 29% of incidents, based on data for the first six months of 2016. In the same period, Texas law enforcement reported that 16 officers were injured in shootings, none of which have led to an officer’s death. Professor Schwartz believes that knowing the patterns and conventions of law enforcement agencies could be useful in expanding and developing new litigation strategies.

"I think it's certainly relevant to civil litigation," said Professor Schwartz.
