Professor Noah Zatz Addresses Forced Labor as Alternative to Incarceration in On Labor

Professor Noah Zatz wrote a post for the blog On Labor, addressing a case in which a worker was ordered by a court to participate in what amounted to forced labor at a poultry plant as part of his sentence in a rehabilitation program.  Zatz argues that the case violates several legal protections for workers, including a violation of the Thirteenth Amendment’s constitutional prohibition on involuntary servitude, as well as the statutes that implement it.
