LAW 830 - Bond Advocacy Workshop

Representation on bond hearings is a critical need in the immigrant community. Without representation at their bond hearings, individuals can remain detained—sometimes for years—while their cases are litigated. Studies have consistently shown that immigrants who are released from custody are more likely to win their immigration case. This Workshop will train students to provide client-centered and trauma-informed
representation for detained immigrants at their bond hearings. Students participating in the Workshop will also take on a bond case of at least one client. The representation is funded by an innovative collaboration between UCLA School of Law and the Mexican Consulate. Students co-enrolled in Immigration Law will receive priority for the Bond Advocacy Workshop.
