Janis Hui Ozaki teaches Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis for LLMs.
Ms. Ozaki is a business and real estate litigator at Dykema Gossett PLLC. She prosecutes and defends cases in state and federal courts, arbitrations, other alternative dispute resolution forums, and administrative proceedings. She provides strategic and effective legal representation to help people and companies resolve disputes.
Ms. Ozaki also represents and counsels international clients from Hong Kong and China on topics including prosecuting and defending U.S.-based lawsuits and import/export issues. She was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada and speaks fluent Cantonese and conversational Mandarin.
Ms. Ozaki received her A.R.C.T. in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, Canada; her bachelor’s degree in Economics with dual concentrations in International Trade and Game Theory from Dartmouth College; and her J.D. from UCLA where she served as Writing Skills Advisor in the Lawyering Skills Program. During law school, she externed for the Honorable S. James Otero of the U.S. District Court.
Ms. Ozaki has appeared in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and has been named a Rising Star in Business Litigation and Top Los Angeles Women Lawyer by Super Lawyers magazine since 2012. She is an active member of ProVisors and serves on the Executive Committee of its Los Angeles IV Group. She is an avid runner and resides in Los Angeles with her husband and dog, Simba.
