Her primary areas of practice are issues related to homelessness, housing justice, and access to government benefits.

Nishimoto was previously a Supervising Attorney at Inner City Law Center where she provided holistic legal services to individuals who were experiencing homelessness or were at imminent risk of homelessness in Metro Los Angeles. Prior to joining Inner City Law Center, she worked at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, first as a staff attorney and later as the Pro Bono Training Manager. In her practice, she advocated on behalf of low-income clients and communities through individual direct representation, affirmative litigation, and policy work. As the Pro Bono Training Manger, Nishimoto oversaw the Pro Bono Training Institute, a statewide collaboration that provides trainings to pro bono volunteers throughout California. Her focus was on leveraging technology and volunteers to close the Justice Gap.

Nishimoto earned her B.A. from Amherst College and her J.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan School of Law where she was a student attorney in the Civil-Criminal Litigation Clinic and Pediatric Advocacy Initiative and Executive Editor for the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform.
