With increasing awareness of the role of sugary drinks in the obesity epidemic, public health experts, policy makers, and advocates have pursued multiple strategies to reduce their overconsumption – from soda taxes, to public health campaigns, to limits on portion sizes and more. With the battle against overconsumption being waged everywhere from state capitol buildings to court rooms to school vending machines across the country and beyond, this panel will discuss policy gains and setbacks, the role of research in advocacy, and what the next front in the war will be.
