Williams Institute Research on Transgender Troops Cited in CBS News Report

December 11, 2014 – Williams Institute research on 15,500 transgender individuals who are on active duty or in the Guard or Reserve Service is cited in a CBS News report about the Air Force possibly reviewing its ban on transgender troops in the next year.

The Williams Institute at the University of California-Los Angeles Law School estimates there are 15,500 transgender individuals serving on active duty or in the Guard or Reserve service. Their study also estimates that 150,000 transgender individuals have served in the history U.S. armed forces or are currently in active duty.
