Professor Volokh Quoted in a U.S. News and World Report Article on Lawmakers in South Carolina and Texas Who Oppose Same-Sex Marriage

January 16, 2015 – Professor Eugene Volokh was quoted in a U.S. News and World Report article on lawmakers in South Carolina and Texas who oppose same-sex marriage and support bills that would eliminate the salaries of state and local officials who grant marriage licenses to gay couples.

“If the federal courts end up finally concluding – likely as a result of a Supreme Court decision – that there is a federal constitutional right to have one’s same-sex marriage recognized by states, then these laws would obviously be unconstitutional,” says Eugene Volokh, a professor at the University of California-Los Angeles School of Law.
