April 30, 2015 -- Professor Adam Winkler commented on the implications of the Supreme Court ruling on the same-sex marriage case, Obergefell v. Hodges, on future LGBT rights battles in a U.S. News & World Report article.
“The marriage fight might almost be won, but there are going to be battles down the road,” says Adam Winkler, an expert in constitutional law at the UCLA School of Law. A breathtaking number of groups have filed "friend of the court" briefs with an eye toward other laws that could affect the LGBT rights debate.
“They want a ruling to empower them to fight against those laws in court," Winkler says.
