Gary Gates and Professor NeJaime of the Williams Institute Comment on Same-Sex Marriage Decision in Los Angeles Times Articles

June 26, 2015 -- Gary Gates, the Blachford-Cooper distinguished scholar and research director at the Williams Institute, commented on today's Supreme Court ruling - in which his research was cited - legalizing same-sex marriage in the United States. His comments appear in a Los Angeles Times article.

Gays and lesbians are particularly concerned with family law issues because they are three times more likely to be raising an adopted or foster child, according to a legal brief filed in the case by demographer Gary Gates of the Williams Institute at UCLA.

“To the degree that gays are stigmatized in custody battles, it feels like that will be harder for it be a relevant point,” Gates said in an interview.
