Professor Eugene Volokh Cited in Wall Street Journal Regarding Kentucky Clerk Jailed For Refusing to Grant Marriage Licenses to Same Sex Couples

September 7, 2015 – Professor Eugene Volokh was cited in the Wall Street Journal, as well as other news outlets including the Times-Picayune, Christian Science Monitor, and WGBH News, when he commented through his blog on the case of a Kentucky clerk who, because of religious objections, was jailed for refusing to grant marriage licenses to same sex couples.  Volokh pointed out that Kentucky has its own Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which may give the defendant other avenues of defense.
