This week marked the launch of a landmark survey of UCLA School of Law alumni undertaken by faculty members Rick Abel and Scott Cummings. This survey, supported by the National Science Foundation and the Law School Admissions Council, is part of a project that examines the educational experiences and careers of law school graduates from six California law schools: Santa Clara, Southwestern, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC. This study seeks to understand how law school prepares students to pursue many different professional paths and how graduates navigate the challenges of the contemporary market. This information will also help our law school train the next generation of legal professionals and strengthen professional support to current alumni/ae. More broadly, the results will help legal educators and bar leaders improve legal education and professional opportunities during this time of significant transition for the legal profession. We therefore strongly encourage all of you who receive the survey to participate!
