Professor Volokh Cited in ABA Journal Article on Federal Court Ruling on Use of Rosa Parks Name on Use of Rosa Parks’ Name on Marketed Products

January 6, 2016 – Professor Eugene Volokh was cited in an ABA Journal article about the dispute as to whether the use of Rosa Parks’ name on marketed products violates the right of publicity.

According to the ABA Journal: The case was decided under Michigan law because Parks lived in Michigan at the time of her death, stated law professor Eugene Volokh, blogging at the Volokh Conspiracy. Volokh wrote that the 11th Circuit created a new “public interest” test for right-of-publicity cases with its ruling, creating a split with other courts.
