Michael Roberts of Resnick Program Quoted in Legal Newsline on How F.D.A. Needs to Define ‘Natural’ on Food Labels for Consumers

March 23, 2016 – Michael Roberts, executive director of the Resnick Program for Food Law and Policy, was quoted in Legal Newsline, saying that the Food and Drug Administration needs to define the word ‘natural’ for consumers, given the absence of such a definition on food product labels has led to numerous lawsuits against food and beverage companies for deceptive or misleading practices.

According to Professor Roberts, it’s clear that consumers have become more interested in what food labels mean. 

“It reflects, I think, the failure by the government, namely the Food and Drug Administration, to define the word ‘natural,’” he said.
