Professor Ann Carlson Quoted in Los Angeles Times on How Supreme Court Nominee Garland Shows Deference to Governmental Agency Judgments

March 18, 2016 – Professor Ann Carlson was quoted in the Los Angeles Times, Hartford Courant and The Herald, as well as numerous other news outlets, on how U.S. Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland almost always defers to governmental agency judgments.

Professor Carlson pointed out that Garland “is almost always deferential to agency interpretations of statutes," and that his record “at least suggests he is likely to uphold the president's signature climate initiative, the Clean Power Plan."
