Professor Douglas Lichtman Quoted in Hollywood Reporter on Difficulty of Obtaining and Enforcing Patents

March 14, 2016 – Professor Douglas Lichtman was quoted in The Hollywood Reporter in an article that covered UCLA School of Law’s recent 40th Entertainment Symposium.  During his presentation on copyright law, Professor Lichtman pointed out that the process for obtaining and enforcing patents is so difficult it could eventually end with courts not protecting legitimate patents because they’re inundated by suits over worthless ones. 

Dean Jennifer L. Mnookin was also cited in the article, when she commented in her opening remarks that the focus of the Entertainment Symposium was not to share war stories, but rather to take a meaningful look at the deals, legal decisions and trends that are shaping the industry.
