Michael Roberts Comments in Market Watch on ‘Too Much Ice’ Lawsuit against Starbucks

May 3, 2016 – Michael Roberts, executive director of the Resnick Program for Food Law and Policy, commented in MarketWatch on the downside of a lawsuit brought against Starbucks for putting too much ice in its drinks.  The beverage giant has dismissed the lawsuit as “frivolous and without merit.”

There could be some significant drawbacks from filing the suit at all, not only for Starbucks customers but for the larger food industry, said Professor Roberts.  “When you get the next class action suit for something really important, consumers may be looking at that with a degree of cynicism and not give it the credit it deserves.”
