May 24, 2016 – Michael Roberts, executive director of the Resnick Program for Food Law & Policy, was quoted in Legal Newsline about recent lawsuits against Chipotle that have spurred further discussion about companies who claim to be GMO-free.
“I believe that greater scrutiny will be applied to GMO-free claims,” Professor Roberts said.
“It is likely that this scrutiny will lead to further suits against not just Chipotle, but others as well. I don't know for sure, but I suspect that the attention on Chipotle may be due in part to its recent food safety problems, which has raised questions about the company's integrity.”
