Sean Hecht Quoted by The Desert Sun on the Tensions Between Environmental Regulations and Jobs

May 2, 2016—Professor Sean Hecht, co-executive director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, was quoted in The Desert Sun on the factors that contributed to the removal of Barry Wallerstein, the long-time head of the South Coast Air Quality Management District. His removal came just before a proposal for a large-scale warehouse facility in the Moreno Valley; construction of the facility would boost jobs, but critics claim it would mark a major setback in reducing harmful emissions in the area, a process previously overseen by Wallerstein.
