Professor Volokh Quoted in Christian Science Monitor on Supreme Court’s Decision to Let Stand State Assault Weapons Ban

June 20, 2016 – Professor Eugene Volokh was quoted in a Christian Science Monitor article about a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision to deny challenges to state bans on assault weapons.   The high Court, for the second time in six months, gave tacit approval of state-level restrictions on assault weapons that were made by New York and Connecticut. 

"Lower courts have said that it’s within the discretion of [local] legislatures to enact these laws," said Professor Volokh.  "Generally speaking the Supreme Court doesn’t step in to review a case unless there’s a disagreement in the lower courts."
