Professor Volokh Cited by on SCOTUS Strike-Down of North Carolina Anti-Cyberbullying Law

July 1, 2016 — Professor Eugene Volokh was quoted by as well as various other news outlets on the Supreme Court's unanimous strike-down of a proposed North Carolina anti-cyber-bullying bill. Professor Volokh wrote a friend-of-the court brief opposing the law on behalf of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, arguing that the law's definition of cyberbullying was too broad to capture only the nature of online behavior it intends to prevent.

"The law was billed as a ban on bullying, but bullying is not a well-defined term. I think a lot of members of the legislature haven't fully figured out what they're trying to ban," said Professor Volokh.
