Professor Bali Interviewed on NPR on Turkish Government’s Alternate Narratives on Attempted Coup

August 5, 2016— Director of the Center for Near Eastern Studies and Professor of law, Asli Bali, was interviewed on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” on the Turkish government informing domestic audiences that the U.S supports coups while telling the West that it knows the U.S. was not involved in the coup attempt on July 15.

“If… the narrative alleging U.S. involvement becomes the dominant narrative, I think that will signal a decision on the part of the Turkish government to double down on a position that jeopardizes relationships with NATO, bilaterally with the United States [and] arguably, with the European Union,” said Professor Bali.
