Professor Eagly Quoted in Las Vegas Review Journal on Lack of Legal Counsel for Child Immigration Cases

August 3, 2016—Professor Ingrid Eagly was quoted in an article by the Las Vegas Review Journal on the reported lack of legal counsel offered to undocumented children’s immigration cases—only 55% of undocumented children receive proper legal counsel and they often attend immigration court alone.

 “There’s a real lack of representation,” said Professor Eagly. “Immigration law is incredibly complex, so for someone who is an immigrant who is fleeing violence to understand that process and articulate claims is difficult — for a child, it’s virtually impossible.”
