Director of the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations, Kal Raustiala, Cited in a Christian Science Monitor Article on Trump’s Strategy Towards Climate Change

October 27, 2016—Professor and director of the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations, Kal Raustiala, was quoted in an article for the CS Monitor on Donald Trump’s plans in dealing with climate change. Trump has threatened to remove the US from last year’s Paris Agreement formalized under the Obama administration. Pulling out of the agreement would discourage China, the world’s second largest carbon emitter, from also reducing their emissions by 2025.

Professor Raustiala says, “There is a constitutional question, unresolved, about whether the president can withdraw from treaties duly ratified by the Senate without the Senate approving that withdrawal.”
