Allison Hoffman Speaks With KPCC on Medical Malpractice Bill

Professor Allison Hoffman was interviewed by KPCC in a discussion about a medical malpractice bill that was recently passed by the House of Representatives. The bill sets a federal limit on settlements for patients in medical malpractice lawsuits, which is meant to save health care costs. A national damages cap may not do much to rein in costs, according to Hoffman, but “to the extent it does, it does so by taking dollars out of pockets of people who have been injured.”
